DIETER MARLENE

​Dieter Marlene operates the gun on the stolen Sherman tank left running as its crew took a call of nature etc after eating some bad bacon and eggs for breakfast. Dieter who is only 18 has lived in Berlin and comes from a wealthy family in the shoe making industry. He decided to answer the call to fight for his country and save it from the invading allied forces. Rather than take a commission he decided to enlist on his own after a significant falling out with his father. Half the German army is marching in boots made by the family firm. He is also the brother of Lili Marlene, entertainer, singer and patron of female flak gunners.

After Lili's surrender to the allies in St Lo, Dieter attempts to rescue her but is thwarted by his tank commander, not to mention the allies, and an evil commandant at a nearby town still in German control who has no time for entertainers. In their stolen Sherman they find Sgt Joe Bradley and Sgt Duffy Washington working on their broken down jeep on a quiet forest road.

Dieter Marlene with some captured allied equipment, the jacket still needs pocket flaps, webbing and some insignia but overall not bad for a homemade job.
